| Dear IFMA Sacramento Valley Chapter Members,
It is my pleasure to serve as the President of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of IFMA. I have been an IFMA member since 2000. In 2007, I earned my CFM and during 2008/09 I served as the Chair of the Professional Development Committee.
I attended my first World Workplace in New Orleans (2007), followed by Dallas (2008), Orlando (2009) and Atlanta (2010). I also attended IFMA's Facilities Fusion in San Diego (2009) and Philadelphia (2010). In 2010, as an Advocacy Liaison, I joined fellow leaders for IFMAs 2010 Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. to advocate for the facilities profession and for energy efficiency legislation.
As our chapter celebrates it's 23rd anniversary this year, I am thankful of the accomplishments from previous leaders; in 2008, our chapter earned IFMA's Small Chapter of the Year and in 2009, our chapter was awarded IFMA's Web Site of the Year.
To continue to advance on those accomplishments, the Board established the chapters Balanced Scorecard in 2010 and we have worked steadily towards advancing our stated objectives. For 2011, we have reintroduced our bi-monthly newsletter and we are once again offering lunch hour programs in addition to our morning programs. We will also award our first scholarship through the IFMA Foundation, the Sacramento Valley Facilities Management Scholarship.
All of our accomplishments, past and present, are because of the professional, knowledgeable and creative members who volunteer their time and energy towards the advancement of our chapter as well as our profession.
I encourage anyone interested in chapter volunteer or leadership opportunities to contact me or any other chapter leader; I look forward to connecting your individual creativity and knowledge with the many activities, events and programs developing within the Sacramento Valley Chapter of IFMA.
All My Best,
Serena
