Professional Development and Education Committee

Objectives:

  • Host Professional Development Breakfast Events
  • Engage with Chapter Members to Develop and Promote Learning Opportunities
  • Administer the CFM Exam Review
  • Collect and distribute information concerning available job opportunities within facility management.

The Professional Development and Education Committee members are here to assist all Chapter members with their professional development within Facilities Management. Whether that interest is in obtaining the FMP or CFM designations, achieving LEED® accreditation or by attending our Educational Roundtables, our committee’s focus is to support and promote our diverse collection of Chapter members.

Our committee consists of three CFMS, an FMP and two LEED® APs with a collective FM experience of 102 years!

Professional Development Breakfast

These breakfast events are structured around the 9 Competencies of the Certified Facilities Manager Designation:

  • Operations and Maintenance
  • Leadership and Management
  • Human and Environmental Factors
  • Planning and Project Management
  • Real Estate
  • Finance
  • Quality Assessment and Innovation
  • Communications
  • Technology

There are two main objectives of the Professional Development Breakfast; to bring chapter members together to share information and knowledge and to discuss current FM industry trends; and to assist chapter members in earning CEUs and CFM maintenance points.

Professional Development

Are you a subject matter expert on reducing energy usage? Did you successfully implement a charge-back system or reduce your O&M budget by 15% without compromising safety and service? The Education Committee is interested in hearing from Chapter Members who have had successful accomplishments within their respective job and would like to share their own lessons learned with others in the profession. Is there a demand for certain information and knowledge? Interested in a discussion on benchmarking, ergonomics or reducing water consumption? If so, please let us know!

CFM Study Groups

The education committee is responsible for the administration and promotion of the CFM Exam Review. Committee members Serena Pancoast and Chuck Swiderski are also available to discuss the CFM exam requirements, structure and preparation with interested Chapter members. Additionally, the chapter has a set of CFM Study Manuals to loan out to interested members. Please contact Co-Chair Todd Bierbaum for more information.
